"You ever seen a real-live horse horse before you got here? I step back a few feet "Nah. I live in the city." He laughs. "This is the city." I role my eyes. "This ain't no city. This is like... I don't know what. It's crazy, all I know."
This basically explains the entire book. Cole is stubborn and tries to act tough but everyone knows what he is really feeling. His father tries to set him straight by giving him straight answers and not beating around the bush. This helps my reading experience because this gives you a good taste of the main character's personalities.

If the main character lived in the world I lived today, he would probably hate it. A city kid all of a sudden living in the rural environment of South Deerfield. He would probably get bored alot like I do, there isnt much to do here, so i cant imagine him having a good attitude with the situation.

In Ghetto Cowboy the plot of this relates almost exactly to the plot of the classic film of Boyz N The Hood. Cole represents Tre, whos parents are divorced, just like Cole's. Tre lives with mom but he gets into trouble so his mom takes him to live with his dad. At first he wasn't happy with it, but his dad teaches Tre the values of life and how to be a good person. That is exactly what Harper is doing with Cole. Pretty fresh. #$W@G

The main character of my book, Ghetto Cowboy is Cole. He is a teen who was forced to move to Philadelphia after living in Detroit. He is kind of stubborn and he is pretty lazy. He refuses to help his father or the other kids in the neighborhood with the horses. He laughs whenever his dad tells him to work. He ends up working though so he's starting to change. If Cole found $100 he would keep it because he is trying to get back to Detroit, he also is from a rough neighborhood so money of any kind would come in handy.
These are the people who live in Cole's neighborhood, like his cousins. The horses are the only thing keeping more people like this to cause warfare through the neighborhood. He was involved with people like this in Detroit and that caused him to act the way he does.

The real question is why wouldn't you choose this book. Look at the title: Ghetto Cowboy. It attracted me instantly. At first I thought it was just funny, I thought this is going to be ridiculous. Then I skimmed through it and saw a picture in the back of a cover of the Life magazine. The cover was a picture of an African-American boy with a horse, the caption tells us that people living in the rough neighborhoods of North Philly and Queens New York have had experience with horses. When I picked it out I thought it was going to be the story of the boys who played polo and are now attending highly regarded colleges. But never the less this story should be interesting and inspiring.
